The Next Generation: Yulo Siblings Pursue Olympic Dreams

Japanese coach Munehiro Kugimiya, who is acknowledged for training the 2-time gold medalist Carlos Yulo, sets his sights on Carlos' successor. Consequently, leading him to organize a short, but extreme 10-day training for the two young Yulos. 

The Yulos strive for greatness as Eldrew and Elaiza Yulo embark on their journey to the top. With the guidance of Japanese coach Munehiro Kugimiya, the former coach of 2-time gold medalist Carlos Yulo, the ambitious Yulos will train intensively under his expertise during a 10-day training camp.

"We have seen the potential of Eldrew and Yza (the Yulos's nicknames) in becoming top gymnasts, ever since we saw them while coaching in Manila. That's why I encouraged them to come to Tokyo and train with me," stated by the encouraging Japanese coach Munehiro Kugimiya.

Yulo blood does in fact flow through Eldrew and Elaiza Yulo as they showcase tremendous and astonishing gymnastics prowess, catching the attention of the watchers and the Gymnastics Association of the Philippines (GAP) President, Cynthia Carrion. Giving them the recognition that is best fitted for the aspiring Olympians. 

President Cynthia Carrion also revealed her plans for the 2028 LA line-up, in which she sets her sights on adding Eldrew Yulo to the roster. potentially competing alongside Carlos in his effort to defend the two gold medals he won at the Summer Games.

Karl Eldrew, 16, won the silver medal in the junior men’s vault at the Pacific Rim Championships held in Cali, Colombia, last April. A month later, he secured the all-around gold medal in the junior men’s category at the AGU Asian Junior Gymnastics Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

Meanwhile, 14-year-old Elaiza was the top medalist in the girls' high school division at the recent Palarong Pambansa in Cebu City last June. She also earned a silver medal in the junior vault at the 19th Singapore Gymnastics Open Championships the month before.

The future looks bright for the hopeful stars as they continue to reach new heights and conquer difficult challenges. The stage is wide for the young gymnast; they will continue to excel in physically demanding sports and prove that Carlos Yulo isn't the only Yulo that can compete with international players.
