Different eras come and go as time progresses, as trends rise and fall. This era now is an era of near absolute creative freedom, especially for students in the academe.

With the theme "ESCOLARIANS: Igniting the Spirit of Basic Sciences through Communication and Cultural Appreciation," CEIS Malolos held its United Nations celebration on October 28, 2022. Aside from celebrating diversity and marking the beginning of a new era, projects like this provide the students with a medium to establish their identity in today's society. In accordance with this, their works reflect the environment that polished these brilliant minds.

In today's so-called "digital age," as boundless data and information overload our minds, we are often compelled to snap media and share them with the world via various platforms to maintain excellent memory and relive the moment.

Holding events and activities such as this year's United Nations celebration is a good outlet for those involved to demonstrate and reflect on the current trends relished in the present. It shows the true nature of the commonwealth as displayed by the people, in this case, developing students. Given freedom with their work, students deliver innovative methods, constantly finding a way to pioneer activities while being grounded in the traditions of their forepersons.

Several trends exhibited prominence during the CEIS United Nations event. The students produced various booths featuring unique attractions and activities. Notably, though, clever incorporation of photography was also present in the majority of the booths. For example, representing Bolivia, STEM 11-A's stall included a llama attraction in which visitors needed to take a photo to be able to receive the booth's stamp.

The booths representing San Marino, Guatemala, Suriname, Tuvalu, etc., produced similar attractions revolving around frames and taking pictures. Additionally, some activities required the photos to be uploaded in social media, as done by the teams of Peru and Albania.

These activities reflect this generation’s constant need for lasting moments, attention, and in a sense, validation. Human nature itself is what’s being displayed, as the path chosen by the students is affected by what they believe will work; under the influence of society, both in technology as seen without obscurity and more subtle factors such as subconscious suggestions.

It can be said that in this age of digitization, the day-to-day activities of people have become more social media-centric. Within the last 100 years, we have been through more technological marvels than the preceding centuries combined. Societal standards have adjusted to fit the trends in technology and blended with everyone under the radar. At this point, complete integration can no longer be resisted, especially in ways to enhance the students’ learning experience as exhibited in most school functions.

Every booth utilized modern technology in one way or the other, even those that chose to go through the traditional route optimized their compositions to be perfect for taking pictures and snapping memories. Students focused on creating an environment wherein lasting memories can be made, a moment frozen in time, to be remembered, to be shared, and to be cherished.

The activities held during the 2022 CEIS United Nations event greatly portray the evolving trends and underlying goals embraced by the student body and their peers.
