Last October 1, Senior High School Student leaders gathered virtually to formally accept their duties and responsibilities as newly elected officers in the induction ceremony with a theme of “Empowering the Next Generation of Leaders through Science and Virtue”, via Microsoft Teams.
Ms. Abigail DC Espineda, the Acting Principal, gave the opening remarks signaling the official start of the ceremony. Following this was the highlight of the event as Miss Mary Florenz Krizza Anzures’, former Supreme Student Council Adviser, delivered an insightful talk to the Escolarian leaders.
”But, then again, yung greater change is now up to you. Hindi siya naka-base or nakadepende sa mga leaders na nakaupo ngayon.” Miss Anzures mentioned, relating it to the current situation of the country today as the 2022 elections are approaching. The former SSC adviser then explained how leaders can often be perceived as qualified candidates to govern based on their academic credentials alone disregarding a candidate's character which is the sad reality of today’s governance.
She then proceeded to applaud the twin philosophies of Centro Escolar Integrated School: Ciencia y Virtud, explaining that it connotes the importance of being knowledgeable while observing good character. Emphasizing the fact that a true leader Escolarian possesses both traits.
“Build platforms and connect with people and pass it onto the next generation of leaders,” Miss Anzures noted as she concluded her talk by stating that being a good listener, observer, learner, and selfless are the four basic traits of a leader. Making an impact on Escolarian leaders as they were left with lessons from the said talk.
After acknowledging the newly elected set of student leaders, Micco Adrian Jimenez, as the current SSC President, formally accepts the duties and responsibilities on behalf of the student leaders with an empowering and influential speech.
He initially mentioned that his desire to serve the Escolarian community was influenced by the former batch of SSC officers who served and led amidst the pandemic.
“The youth are continuously progressing and seeking changes that would benefit the world in the long run, and we need leaders who would voice out to make those shifts into reality,” Jimenez mentioned.
As Jimenez encouraged fellow student leaders he mentioned that excuses and signs of resistance to change must stop within them and instead start a ripple of change that would influence the Escolarian community.
Like Miss Anzures, Jimenez also pointed out three qualities a leader must possess, “They must be progressive yet still present, visionary but still rational, and empowering yet grounded.”
As Jimenez set the seal on Acceptance of Responsibility, he declared his acceptance of the responsibility together with the other student leaders. “We can spark change in the lives of the people we serve, and we will be remembered as the people who once made a difference in their senior high school experience when they gave us the opportunity to lead them.” He concluded.
The Supreme Student Council was able to break barriers as they pulled off this year’s Induction Ceremony, leaving Escolarian leaders ready to brave the academic year.
