Centro Escolar Integrated School Malolos (CEIS) representatives achieved places in the recent BioBlast 2022 with the theme “Takeoff. Ascending to Higher Altitudes with Science Amidst the Pandemic.” 

BioBlast 2022 is a nationwide educational event spearheaded by Philibioscientia, The UPLB Life Sciences Society. The event consists of a series of competitions, including essay writing, digital poster making, impromptu speaking, and InfoTok: TikTok Contest in which CEIS representatives participated.

For the #InfoTok: Informative TikTok Contest, Raphaelle Erika P. Victoria of STEM 11-A secured first place.

In the TikTok video, Victoria highlighted the spread of false claims in social media and of being a Marites by doing a parody of the song ‘We Don’t Talk About Bruno’ from Encanto.

“Think like scientists who base on facts and not on assumptions. Unlike Marites, we should be responsible, now that fake news spreads faster than a virus!”

Aaron V. Matias of STEM 11-A attained third place in the essay writing-making contest with the same theme.

“Science could only do so much on its own, for it is merely a tool…Whether we use it for the better or worse is up to us,” Matias emphasized in his piece.

In a Facebook post, the CEIS expressed their congratulations to the representatives. They mentioned Hans Raphael Mercado of STEM 11-B for participating in the impromptu speaking contest and Mr. Mike Sih guiding the students.

As the competition ended, the victors showed their gratitude for God, their family, and fellow Escolarians.
